Scolari Backs Brazil And Barca

Well, Bunyodkor are champions of the Uzbek League and Scolari is looking forward to the challenge of leading his team to the AFC Champions League title as well as a place at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. But the man behind Scolari taking this coaching job is Brazilian Rivaldo, who now plays for Bunyodkor. Scolari admits that he was also, “…fascinated by the ambition of the Bunyodkor chiefs. A project of this scale is a fantasy!”
Soccer Crazy!
Coach Scolari, who is currently on an 18 month contract with Bunyodkor, is confident that Uzbekistan has a great future in the world of soccer. He feels that they have a lot to offer and will make their mark in due course. He complimented the talented young team for having qualified for the U-20 World Cup in Egypt this year. According to Scolari, this soccer crazy nation plays a game closer to the improvisational South American style than the tactical European style. “Uzbekistan soccer is half tactical and half technical,” is how coach Scolari puts it.
Big Ambitions
As of now, Scolari’s eyes are set on the Asian Champions League, which he hopes his team wins. His ambitions for Bunyodkor and himself are quite high, considering he wants the team to win every single tournament they participate in! That’s a tall ambition for any coach, even one of Scolari’s ranking! Talking about ambition, Bunyodkor recently made headlines with its claim that it was about to sign on famous Internazionale soccer shirt number 9, Samuel Eto’o! Though Scolari refused to say anything about the Eto’o deal, he did reveal that he definitely has plans to bring some big stars to Bunyodkor soon and is on the lookout.
Brazil & Barca rule!
A candid Scolari admitted that being a Brazilian, he considers Brazil as the world’s best international team. On the club level, he thinks Barcelona is the best. Having been around for so many years, Scolari has seen the game of soccer change drastically. He feels that it’s become more of a money making business with soccer players constantly transferring from one club to another. Earlier, players were worried about earning the reputation of being mercenaries. This ace coach is happy to note the great improvements in science, technology and marketing, which are now so much a part of the game. He even feels coaching has changed over the years, with teams relying a lot more on their coaches.
Well, Scolari, your team is certainly relying on you and knowing you it won’t be long before Uzbekistan takes centre stage on the pitch in their national team’s World Cup soccer uniforms! As for Scolari’s ultimate dream, it is to go back to his country and end his career in Brazil before retiring……

Why Arbitrage is Not For Most People

Betting arbitrage is a complex betting strategy that takes advantage of different odds calculations by different bookmakers. Basically, when separate bookmakers differ in their opinions or calculations, one can make strategic bets with both bookmakers that ensure that the bettor makes a profit regardless of the outcome of the event. While this strategy has been shown to work, there is much more to it than simply understanding how to make the requisite bets.
There are many betting systems available on the market that use the basic principles of betting arbitrage as their basis; however, they often fail to mention some of the serious drawbacks to such systems. The prepackaged systems for sale generally describe how to make the required bets and explain the general principles behind them. In that arbitrage betting is quite complex, this is certainly a good first step for someone wanting to use this strategy, but these systems deliberately downplay or ignore the more demanding aspects of using this system.
One feature of arbitrage betting that is almost entirely ignored by those selling arbitrage based systems is the amount of time it takes. To use arbitrage effectively one has to analyze the odds quoted for every event by at least two – and usually more – bookmakers in order to identify the discrepancies between them. After this, one has to calculate the amount of money to be bet with each company in order to make effective arbitrage bets, and then one has to place the bets in accordance with each bookmaker’s rules and procedures and keep track of them all.
Further, one has to monitor continuously for bet cancellations, because if one bookmaker cancels a particular bet, then all the related bets have to be canceled to avoid losses. The effective use of sports arbitrage to make significant money is often done by large operations that include one group of people keeping track of everything online and making the calculations and another group of people who do all the “leg work” of making and managing the bets.
Another aspect of arbitrage betting that is often downplayed is the amount of money needed to make a meaningful return. In general, arbitrage betting provides small but guaranteed returns. This means, in order to make significant amounts of money, one has to bet significant amounts of money. Further, arbitrage betting by definition requires making multiple bets with multiple companies, so one is not just making one large bet but two or more large bets.
Further, since many bookmakers make it easy to deposit money but make it more difficult to withdraw it, the bettor’s ability to shift money between companies is significantly reduced. This is why many successful arbitrage operations keep most of their profits tied up in their accounts with each bookmaker and they also tend to have a large pool of reserve capital on the side that can be deposited when needed.
While it has been conclusively proven that arbitrage betting does work, it is still not appropriate for most individual bettors. Quite simply, most people lack the skill, the time, and the money to effectively use arbitrage betting to their advantage. This means that the prepackaged systems one can buy, that often include overpriced software programs that do not work, are frequently a complete waste of time and money.…

A More Relaxed Approach To Fitness

Staying in shape is often seen as being a real chore. We may dread constant trips to the gym, or the thought of going out for a run on a cold winter’s morning. Unfortunately, such negative thoughts aren’t helpful if we’re looking to stay motivated.
In fact, a lack of motivation can make things harder. The less inclined we are to exercise, the less impressive our results and achievements. As we struggle to get fitter, we may well notice that the motivation really starts to drain away. Before we know it, we’re left feeling pretty down.
If this all sounds far too familiar to you, then you may want to consider taking a different approach to fitness, sports, health and exercise. Instead of facing tough sessions with a personal trainer, why not think about tackling things in a more relaxed manner?
The great advantage of being relaxed is that it tends to keep us happy. The problem might seem to be that relaxing doesn’t immediately lead to weight loss and increased fitness. That’s probably because you’re thinking about being a little bit too relaxed!
A relaxed way of getting fit should concentrate on things that keep you happy. You may not, for instance, really enjoy running or jogging. But maybe you do like nice country walks? In this particular case, you could ensure that you make more time for walking. It’s actually a great form of exercise, but it does often feel like less of an effort.
Similarly, you might like to think about sporting activities. Consider sports that you enjoy and maybe even think about the social aspects. Is there a thriving social scene associated with your local tennis club? If so, you could go along and join in the fun. You’ve probably spotted that there’s a general theme running through these suggestions.
Fitness and happiness should be closely associated. Choose activities that you enjoy and that make you happy. You’ll then find that staying fit is something that you can actually look forward to.
Don’t forget that you can buy fitness equipment at discount prices from a range of online stores. Staying fit needn’t be hard work and it needn’t be expensive either.…

Super Bowl XLV: Psychology Favors The Pittsburgh Steelers

This year’s Super Bowl looks like a great match up. These are two teams with great histories, great talent, superb coaches and great traditions. I am anticipating a close game which may be decided by one critical mistake.
Right now, The Packers are slight favorites to win this year’s contest. However, there are a number of factors which seem to favor the team in black and yellow fromthe Steel City.
The fact that the quarterback, coaches and a number of players have been to The Super Bowl before helps The Steelers to manage the big game experience and the big game pressure effectively. Many of their players “have been there and done that” attitude.
These ideas fit with the research findings presented in one of my books, Who Will Win The Big Game And Why: 50 Characterstics Of Championship Players, Teams And Coaches.
I coauthored this book with Carlton Chin, an MIT trained quant. Carlton looked at the mathematical factors which determine the winners of big games and I looked at the psychological determinants of those who are victorious in big games.
Our research indicates that coaching and previous experience in major contests play huge roles in a team’s success in these kinds of contests.
In addition, Pittsburgh has a more consistent and more reliable running game thando The Packers.
And Pittsburgh has the edge in turnover ratio. Since many big games are won and lost on errors, this is an important statistic.
Both teams have outstanding quarterbacks, but Big Ben has been there before and he may have some added incentive to prove to the world that he is still a champion, even though he had some off the field issues. He has something very personal to prove to the sporting world. He appears to be the kind of tough and arrogant athlete who will really enjoy showing the world that he is an outstanding quarterback.
The AFC is arguably a tougher conference than is the NFC. Pittsburgh was able to compile a fine record against some very worthy opponents. And, they were able to win without their starting quarterback who was serving a four game suspension at the start of the season. This shows how well balanced this team really is.
Both of these squads have great histories and both organizations have special connections to their communities. If you talk to someone from Green Bay or from Pittsburgh, you realize that these teams are about much more than just football.
However, the Steelers have perhaps one of the best names in football. The name connotes mental toughness, physical toughness, durability and a kind of solidness.
The Packers have a nice name. It connotes teamwork and a pack. However,in my mind, it does not compare to The Steelers.
Furthermore, “The Cheese Heads” are entertaining and comical, but they do not match up with the steel helmets that Pittsburgh fans wear with great pride. Steel fits with the gridiron better than does cheese.
The Steelers also have the edge in terms of their uniforms. Green and gold make
for a nice uniform. But black and yellow are powerful and menacing.
Both coaches are superb. Mike Tomlin is, however, intense, focused, proven and has created what appears to be a well-disciplined family in Pittsburgh. Again, Green Bay is a great team, but Pittsburgh seems to have a bit more intensity and ferocity in their approach to the game.
I frequently get calls from coaches who want me to help them to improve their athletes’ performance. If I were advising Mike Tomlin, I would encourage him to bring in some of the players from The Steelers rich tradition. Have Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Rocky Bleier and others share their experiences, insights and motivational thoughts with his fine group of athletes.
Capitalize on that fine black and yellow tradition which intertwined with The
Steel City.…

Childhood Obesity Can Be Conquered With Activity And Nutrition

A major hurtle for parents who are concerned about childhood obesity is the activity level of their kids. Although there has been a healthy stigma develop around playing video games all day, and the evolution of physically interactive games like Wii, kids of this generation are still generally less active than twenty or thirty years ago.
If your kids are already active congratulations on setting a great example for family and friends!
Activity produces overall physical, psychological and social benefits for kids. Consistent physical activity affects their muscular development and ordination. Team sports and activities also promote development of problem solving and social skills not possible in the realm of virtual games.
Coordinating activities as a family also bring additional benefits. Walking, hiking, bike riding, street hockey and anything else that gets you moving will provide the needed activity along with precious bonding time so hard to find in our fast paced lives.
It’s also important for a child’s bones and joints, making them stronger, more flexible and less susceptible to injury. Physical fitness impacts children’s immune systems and it’s well established that an active body means a stronger immune system, making kids more resistant to illness.
Take precautions when your kids are active. Children use up more energy than adults while doing the same activity. This means they can heat up quickly, making fluid intake vitally important. Half their body weight in ounces of water are recommended throughout the day for children, more for active kids.
During activity, kids should re-hydrate about every 20 minutes to replace the fluids they lose through sweating. If the weather is hot, they should re-hydrate even more frequently and you need to know the signs of dehydration.
These include darker-colored urine, muscle cramping and light-headedness. Smaller bodies have less margin of error and require closer monitoring.
Proper nutrition goes hand in hand with physical activity.
In order for a child’s body to operate at peak efficiency it needs the right nutrients. Make sure to avoid giving kids sugary snacks such as candy bars, pudding, pastries and soda. Kids are always growing and building muscle and proper nutrition supports healthy development.
Foods high in sugar content cause energy peaks and valleys, which leave kids tired, irritable and unable to concentrate. Instead, offer them nourishing, healthy snacks, such as fresh, colorful fruits and vegetables. They’re naturally sweet snacks that also contain the fiber and vitamins kids need.
Leaving prepared (cleaned and cut) fruits and veggies lay around is an excellent way to encourage healthy snacking. The extra effort is worth it. Try a big bag of orange slices after the next soccer practice instead of sugary “sports” drinks or juice boxes.
The choices for moms and dads in a hurry are limited. Kids nutritional shakes are an excellent addition to your child’s diet. For the same reason that shakes are so effective for weight loss, the concentration of quality nutrition in very few calories, they make excellent snacks for kids.
When it comes to healthy nutrition and consistent physical activity, nothing can replace the power of a good example. Parents can have a life-long influence by committing to set such an example for their kids.…

Follow This Great Article About Baseball To Help You

Baseball has really grown in popularity all over the world in recent years. If you are confused as to why baseball is such a great sport, or you have been following it for awhile and just want great tips, the following article is just for you. Keep reading for solid tips about baseball.

Learn how to hit a ball without chasing it by using a batting cage. A batting cage allows you to hit the ball as hard as you can without worrying about an errant ball going through a window. The batting cage has mesh sides so the ball is easily recovered.

If you coach baseball, motivating your players is a good way to push them to victory. Group activities such as pizza parties can help your team bond so they can work well together. Always remember baseball is only a game, and not the most important thing in the world.

If you want to hit with power, you should place your weight on your back foot. If you hit from the right side, the weight will be placed on the right foot with your thigh muscle tightening on that side. As you swing, your back foot will add power.

Always wear protective equipment when playing baseball. Just like any sport, injuries happen in baseball. Especially when batting, you need to protect your head. That means you need to wear a helmet whenever you enter the batter’s box. One poor pitch can mean a fastball hitting you in the noggin. That’s at minimum a ringing headache with the potential for a concussion or worse. Be safe.

For kids in baseball, make sure they their hands are placed properly for hitting. The top hand on the bat needs to be sitting near the same height as their rear shoulder, about 3 to 6 inches from that rear shoulder. Their rear elbow needs to be around 45-degrees. The front elbow needs to be lower and about even with the back elbow.

Do you have any children or grandchildren that are interested in playing baseball? As in other areas of life, we want to do all we can to help our kids experience success. To develop a quick swing, the hands, wrists and forearms have to be strong. You don’t have to buy expensive equipment to help kids develop better muscle strength. Give your child a tennis ball to squeeze on while watching TV. The tennis ball provides enough resistance to strengthen the hand, wrist and forearm.

When batting, don’t be afraid to take a few pitches, especially against a pitcher you are less familiar with. Those pitches will give you an idea of the pitchers speed and the ball’s action to the plate. Plus, the additional pitches will help wear out the pitcher over the course of the game. A tired pitcher makes more mistakes.

This sport has something for everyone to enjoy, and you can too now that you’ve read these great tips. Keep them in mind whenever you want to get the most out of a baseball game.…
